We pride ourselves on creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere and positive experiences. To make sure you’re comfortable, we are sharing answers to some of our most frequently asked questions about physical therapy.

What is physical therapy

Physical therapy is a treatment method for certain physical impairments, disabilities, and injuries. You can expect a thorough evaluation by a physical therapist who will create a treatment plan for your specific diagnosis.

What are physical therapists?

Physical therapists (PTs) are highly-educated, licensed health care professionals who may help patients reduce pain, and improve or restore mobility, in many cases without expensive surgery or the use of prescription medications. In addition, PTs work with individuals to develop fitness and wellness programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.

How often do I need to attend physical therapy?

The frequency of physical therapy appointments depends on your diagnosis and your physician’s recommendation. A typical care plan for physical therapy includes three appointments per week.

How long will my physical therapy appointment be?

Appointment lengths vary depending on your diagnosis and activity level. On average, first visits last about an hour. You’ll also want to arrive 15 minutes early to sign in, complete paperwork, and change clothes (if necessary).

What should I wear to my physical therapy appointment?

We recommend that you wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes–something you can exercise in. Sneakers are preferred in our gyms. Explore our blog for more helpful tips on what to wear to your physical therapy appointments.

What should I expect at my first physical therapy appointment?

During your first visit, your physical therapist will perform an initial evaluation, discuss your plan of care, and set goals. Your treatment may include exercise; manual therapy (a hands-on technique used to decrease pain and increase range of motion); modalities such as electrical stimulation, moist heat, or ice; and patient education, including a home exercise program. At this appointment, the frequency and duration of your treatment will be determined.

Do you accept my insurance?

We work with most major insurance providers. When you call to schedule your appointment, we’d be happy to confirm your insurance coverage. If your insurance provider requires a co-pay, we will ask for payment at each visit. We accept cash, check, and credit card. Learn more about insurance coverage.

What should I bring to my first physical therapy appointment?

On your first visit, you’ll need to bring your physician referral or prescription (if applicable), your insurance card, registration forms, ID, and co-payment (if applicable). You may also bring a change of clothes.

Do you have an interpreter available?

We do not have interpreters on our staff. However, we are happy to provide you with an interpreter should you need their services. If you need an interpreter for your appointments, please let our staff know ahead of time so that we can find the appropriate interpreter to be available for your appointments. We will cover any costs related to interpreter services.
