Arthritis Management

Physical and occupational therapy is a helpful tool for managing arthritis and joint inflammation, including pain, stiffness, and deformity.

What is arthritis management?

Both occupational and physical therapies play essential roles in treating patients affected by arthritis. The primary goals of arthritis treatment include improving and restoring joint mobility; improving the strength of the muscles to support the joint; protecting the affected joints from additional irritation, structural deterioration, or deformity; enhancing the ability to perform daily activities; and managing pain.

Is arthritis management the proper treatment?

Arthritis management is for those experiencing joint and mobility limitations caused by the disease. Arthritis treatments used may include joint mobilization and other manual therapies, paraffin baths, hydrotherapy, fluidotherapy, progressive exercise,  and customized splinting. Your physical therapist will determine the best approach to the treatment based on your specific condition.
